Seattle for Friends-giving

Glass capital of the west coast! Finally made it up there for some amazing food, a trip to Chihuly's Garden of Glass, and then a visit to Olympic Color Rod to buy some more glass color to make some new things of beauty (well, hopefully they will be things of beauty)!

First off, a full day of cooking. Everything from scratch, and delicious eating! I would say the topper for me, the roasted pumpkin and coconut milk soup or maybe the kale and pumpkin seed stuffing. Either way, I was full and happy.

Then amongst trips around Seattle to play pinball, drink more coffee than I knew existed and of course continue eating delicious food, I finally got to visit the Chihuly Garden of Glass. His intense use of color and scale is really captivating. These green and black pieces are nearly 5-6 feet tall. Impressive.

And of course no glassy trip to Seattle is complete without the obligatory Olympic Color Rod trip! Picked up some wicked colors and I look forward to putting them to use! Here is a quick preview of things to come.

Blasques Fine Art in Truckee, CA.

Recently I spent an awesome day in Downtown Truckee hanging out with Randy Blasques of Blasques Fine Arts (http://www.networkedblogs.com/blog/blasquez_fine_art). She was kind enough to show me some of the downtown area, give a tour of her new up and coming studio, and let me drop off pieces to be featured in her gallery(up dates to come when the gallery opens).

For those that haven't ventured to Truckee, I would highly recommend it. It is a quaint town just North of Tahoe. Normally this time of year it is rather cool with snow on the ground, and surrounded by snow capped mountains. This trip however, was rather warm, nearly mistakable for a an early summer day but gorgeous all the same.
